Tickets for the MOVE Congress in Madrid, Spain, on 15-17 November 2023 are still available – and the programme is taking shape with inspiring keynotes, debates, workshops, masterclasses, interactive shows, and much more, making it an event you won’t want to miss. We’re gearing up for a big next round of speaker announcements, and here is a taste of the latest developments.

Keynotes
Dr Karim Abu-Omar from the Department of Sport Science and Sport at Friedrich-Alexander University will challenge you to think about the links between grassroots sport and environmental sustainability. He joins mental health advocate Dominique de Marné and social media sensations Joël Kruisselbrink and Azmi Alubeid as our MOVE Congress 2023 keynotes.

Debates and panels
Three parallel debates and panels feature in the morning programme on both Thursday and Friday. Look out for an interactive “fishbowl” where you can jump into the discussion – the topics include children’s health and wellbeing, climate change, sport for development, esports, NCD prevention and placemaking. Featuring speakers from WHO Europe, Gehl architects, Novo Nordisk, H2O Esports Campus and sportanddev.

Workshops and masterclasses
Pictured above, you can learn about the successful Icehearts initiative supporting children’s mental health from Nelli Niemelä; demystify and conquer the challenge of AI in your work with Lucy Mills from READY and current and former ISCA volunteers Markus Schwaiger and Julia Lisewska; and dive into an interactive workshop on mental health in the workplace led by Barbara Brennan from Elephant in the Room.

Three parallel workshops/masterclasses are also happening each day, and other topics include environmental sustainability, Integration of Ukrainian Refugees though Sport (led by Laureus Sport for Good and V4Sport) and placemaking (led by Gehl).

Interactive entertainment!
This is the MOVE Congress, so don’t expect to spend two days sitting still. You’ll have the opportunity to get into the action as our opening ceremony and ISCA Awards night will feature an interactive show with a very local flavour, all sessions will include active breaks and you’ll get to try fun games for seniors that are so addictive that they have gone viral on social media.
